Musician-Performers wanted for Cockney street band instigating knees-ups and ding-dongs on a street near you.
We're looking to recruit at least one and maybe two musician-performers to form a street band playing the songs of the old east end. The vision is to make group capable of playing at least a half hour set of songs and combine it with aspects of clowning, comedy, eccentric dancing and other bits of performing to make a really exciting show.
The plan is to tour this professionally round street theatre festivals and community events. This will probably involve an unpaid rehearsal period for the musical part of the show and then an application for funding to get a director and a space to work on the comedy and performance.
Ideally you'll be an accomplished musician playing a lead or a bass instrument. Something loud is always good for the street so a trumpet, a clarinet or a tuba would be ideal but we'll consider any instrument if it come with the right player. It'd be good if you could read, but better if you can improvise well and have a good head for picking up new tunes fast. Unfortunately we don't really need a guitarist.
In terms of performance we're looking for someone whose a good improviser, likes playing as part of an ensemble, has some experience with comedy or clowning and is nice to work with, but even if you're a musician with limited experience of theatre/performance but are interested/keen we'd love to hear from you as long as you're up for taking a forward role in talking, moving and maybe even falling over.
Auditions/meeting up and having a chat will take place in January in London.
The rehearsals will either be London or Bristol based so people from either end of the M4 can apply.
If you're interested please send a CV and a covering letter to:

Look forward to hearing from you…
