From August 15th to September 20th 2008, SKITe/Sweet & Tender Collaborations project will gather 40 young artists from 26 different countries and performance-related disciplines in the city of Porto, Portugal. This meeting will provide a context for those artists to experiment with modes of artistic exchange, creation and production while articulating specific conditions of work, production and diffusion in collaboration with the hosting and supporting structures in Porto.
Sweet & Tender Collaboration (www.sweetandtender.org) is an artist–driven initiative and a network of individual artists that come together around the idea of sharing their individual resources to realize a level of access, mobility and growth that would not otherwise be available to each artist alone.
Last year Sweet & Tender Collaboration/SKITe gathered together 40 artists in France, at PAF, Performing Art Forum in Saint Erme-Outre-et-Ramecourt. SKITe/Sweet & Tender Porto 2008, in Portugal is going be a second edition, in which each participant will be offered the opportunity to use the different contexts available and each other's experiences to self-educate, reflect, grow and work together in artistic productions.
Those intense artistic residencies belong as well to a former tradition of international artistic meetings called SKITE Projects that already happened in Paris in 1992 and in Lisbon in 1994
SKITe /Sweet and Tender Collaborations Porto 2008 project advances in good conditions but we are still looking for financial support that will guarantee the success of such a project. All participants are active in looking for funding sources that can contribute to the implementation of the project.
