3 Professional Actors Required. Equity rate: £364 a week. For actors keen on devising and working on new material for developing a new theatre piece: GHOST SONG CABARET.
Dates: Monday-Friday 11 May-15 May, 10am-6pm. Also Fridays 22 & 29 May, evenings 6pm-10pm. Nature of Work: Devising, creating new work, improvising, working physically, acting, singing, dancing. Should have interest in cabaret.
Location: Chisenhale Dance Space, London E3.
Project: This is the second phase of development of this piece, following four weeks devising in March 2009.
Roles: Village Girl, Young Man in Circus, Circus Proprietor.
Story: A Village Girl falls in love with a Young Man from the Circus, but the circus leaves without her. Broken-hearted she makes her wayto the city and a life in the cabaret. But the Young Man says she refused to join the circus and the Proprietor says she refused to get married and everyone disagrees as to what happened. Meanwhile the woman now grown old has risen up the chain in the world of organised crime, but always she thinks of going back to rejoin the circus.
More On Piece: For those interested in Contemporary European Theatre and 1920s Cabaret Voltaire, especially Da-Da surrealists. We are also interested in exploring the social uses of songs and dances. Anyknowledge of Mime or Acrobatics an advantage.
Director: This work is lead by John Seaforth. John graduated from Ecole Philippe Gaulier in 2007. While in Paris he also studied with Ella Jaroszewicz at Magenia: the European Academy of Corporeal Theatre. He is currently working on two evenings of solo shows at The Courtyard Theatre, 20 April and 4 May. John is an Equity Member.
What We Are Looking For: people with a background in Lecoq, Gaulier, Mime, Circus.
