Participate in watch & talk - residential project for performing artists, 25 August - 3 September - Zurich, Switzerland

Deadline: 1 June 2011

watch & talk - luxury of nonproductive thinking, the residential project by Migros Culture Percentage and the Zürcher Theater Spektakel, invites eight young performing artists to a 10-day residential project on the Landiwiese in Zurich. Visits to performances, group discussions, reflection on one's own artistic production – watch & talk is a personal challenge which pushes to the limits. The exchange in the group and with participating artists opens new perspectives on performance style, political approaches, aesthetics, ethics and one's own work.

The young artists have the opportunity to reflect on their own work methods through discussion with others. Results from this confrontation can include: the discovery of new work methods, the emergence of new questions and the urge to tackle them. The format is divided into three sections. In the morning, the individual work methods are presented to the group members. This takes place through practical rehearsals and exercises on the stage. In the afternoon, the focus is on the discussion of what has been seen, meetings with artists performing at the festival and group readings of theoretical texts. The subsequent performance attendance enables an intense and comprehensive insight into the current world of theatre.

With watch & talk, Migros Culture Percentage and the Zürcher Theater Spektakel offer young artists the luxury of being able to work for 10 days without any production pressure. watch & talk also covers accommodation and travel costs.
