“EMOTIONAL TRUTH” ACTORS WORKSHOP
1 week intensive
The workshop “Emotional Truth” is based on techniques and methods developed by Constantin Stanislavski, Richard Boleslavski and Lee Strasberg.
The aim is to introduce beginners and new comers to “The Method”. A term used by Lee strasberg to signify a development from the Stanislavski system of acting. It is derived from the teachings of the American Laboratory Theatre, The Group theatre and The Actors studio in New York. It is widely accepted that the teachers and subsequent students of these three groups changed the face of American acting in theatre and film, as well as influencing generations of actors and directors across the world.
The goal is to allow the student to develop their Imagination, emotions, inspiration, creativity and confidence that will help not only their acting work but their everyday life. It is designed specifically to focus on achieving Emotional truth thru a series of exercises that stimulate the 5 senses and awaken and strengthen memories in order to achieve our emotional truths.
Within these exercises the student will travel on a journey within and without themselves becoming more in tune with their emotions, learning why and where their emotions come from and importantly being able to control them at will. Then learning how to build a character and apply the techniques to the work of an actor.
The workshop has an exciting approach that will not only be an essential beginners guide to The Method but will help inspire self belief and creativity.
The five classes are designed to last approximately 4 hours each, intensifying over each day. Improving upon the previous days experiences and getting deeper into the technique of sensory and emotional memory.
The result, to give the students a positive new perspective and understanding of The Method which will help them not only in their approach to acting work but also their everyday life.
