Circostrada Network is a European platform for the outdoor arts and circus arts, working toward the development and structuring of these fields on the European scale. It contributes to the circulation of information and resources within these artistic sectors, putting emphasis on cooperation between International promoters and carrying out joint actions to encourage greater recognition of these art forms.
The first edition of Fresh Circus was held on September 25-26, 2008 in Paris at the Parc de la Villette. During those two days, international promoters were invited to reflect together upon ways to develop better structuring within the sector, as well as consolidation on the European scale.
The seminar brought together 280 artists and organisations from the circus field that worked in the framework of six thematic workshops: access to the circus profession; the creativity and innovation of the contemporary circus; technical regulations involving circus tents; knowledge and access to information; diversity and intercultural dialogue; production and distribution of circus works. The participants proposed as well a series of recommendations for regional, national, and European institutions to help create greater awareness of the particularities of contemporary circus creation.
